Goals. Seems like there’s not enough time in the week for some goals right?! Have you ever done the calculations for how many minutes we have in a week? Let me do it for you. With 24 hours in a day, 60 minutes in an hour, and 7 days in a week….we’ve got 10,080 minutes total to reach our weekly goals. If we get 8 hours of sleep per night within those 7 days, that’s 3,360 minutes we can subtract right off the top. (Seems like we get less sleep, but that’s another post.) Then if we work 8 hours per day (and add in the hour it takes to get to work and the hour it takes to get home), that’s another 4,800 minutes to subtract from our allotted 10,080 minutes per week. When we add those two activities together, that’s a whopping 8,160 minutes gone! And we haven’t even talked about church or faith time, family time, community activities or other goals that you may be passionately trying to reach! What time do you have left to Go Get the Life & Career you want?!
What are you doing with the other 32 hours?
That’s what we have left. 1,920 minutes or 32 hours. Let’s allot some time for faith, family, and community. We can generalize and say that you spend an average of 5 hours in each area. If you subtract that 15 hours, you have approximately 16 hours left. But, who are we kidding? Because, no matter the size of your family… any caretaker responsibility can take the energy of every waking moment and totally wipe out the 32 hours that you think you have. Therefore, at the end of the week, it seems like you clearly have NO TIME TO DO ANYTHING THAT YOU WANT TO DO!
Are you sure you have no time? Or maybe that’s the story you are telling yourself?

Since we all have the same 10, 080 minutes in a week to manifest our life and business goals, we can’t say that we don’t have enough time. Take a look at the following 3 tips to help you reach a goal this week.
Tip #1: Make Time!
First of all, it seems like we all make time for what’s important to us. If your goals aren’t important to you, you will always find an excuse for not reaching them. Some of them may be very good excuses. While spending time making sure food is available for your family is a must do chore, it can still be an excuse for not reaching your goals. Can you find a more efficient way to make sure your family’s needs are met and create time within your 10,080 minutes to reach one goal this week? Sure you can! Will you commit to finding a more efficient way to get your must have chores done this week? There’s good news here! As a result of finding time, you get to decide how you will spend that time!
Tip #2: Act as if you have no time to waste!
Much as possible, start acting is if you have no minutes to waste; because in actuality, we don’t. If we waste any minutes, we can not recover them. Rationalizing how we spend our time is human. Objectively analyzing how we spend our time is efficient. Analyzing how you spend your time is as easy as jotting down a note in your planner at the top of every hour about what you are currently doing and thinking. (Yes, we can have thoughts that are time wasters!) Can you commit to jotting down notes in your planner at the top of every hour this week? At the end of the week, go back and see what you were doing and thinking. What you find out may surprise you.
Tip #3: Make a commitment to you!
Finally, make a commitment to yourself that you will do everything humanly possible to achieve a goal this week. Often when we think of commitment, we think about it in terms of how we are committed to other people. We commit to people in relationships. We commit to jobs. And we even commit to civic engagements. Yet, we don’t commit to ourselves….because in actuality if we commit to ourselves, we may have to say no to some of our activities (and some people) in order to keep that commitment. Can you decide today to commit to yourself? Not only in word, but also in deed?
